Self-Care Through Self-Expression: A Creative Group for Connection, Reflection, and Healing
In a world that often asks us to push through, stay productive, and keep going, true self-care can feel elusive or even inaccessible. For many women and non-binary adults, there is little space to slow down, process emotions, and reconnect with themselves in meaningful ways.
That’s why we’re excited to offer Self-Care Through Self-Expression, a 6-week creative group designed to provide a gentle, supportive space for reflection, creativity, and community.
This group is not about being “good” at art or having prior experience. Instead, it’s about using creative expression as a tool for self-understanding, emotional release, and connection with others who may be navigating similar seasons of life.
What Is Self-Care Through Self-Expression?
Self-Care Through Self-Expression is a small-group experience for women and non-binary adults (18+) that blends:
creative exploration (art-making, journaling, expressive activities)
guided reflection and discussion
supportive community connection
permission to show up exactly as you are
The group meets weekly on Saturdays from 10:00–11:30 AM, from February 7 through March 14, and costs $10 per person.
Sessions are facilitated by student interns Kyndall Miller and Lauren Scislowski, under professional supervision, and are designed to be accessible, inclusive, and emotionally safe.
Who Might Benefit from This Group?
This group may be especially meaningful if you:
feel emotionally overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected from yourself
want a low-pressure space to explore feelings and experiences
crave community but feel unsure where to find it
want to reconnect with creativity without expectations or judgment
are navigating life transitions, stress, identity shifts, or healing
You don’t need to be in crisis. You don’t need to have artistic skills. You don’t need to share more than you want to.
You simply need curiosity and a willingness to explore.
What This Group Is (and Is Not)
This group is:
supportive and reflective
creative and experiential
community-oriented
facilitated with care and supervision
This group is not:
individual therapy
formal art therapy
a space where you are required to share personal details
Participants are always in control of their level of participation and disclosure.
Why Creative Expression?
Research and clinical experience consistently show that creative expression can help people:
process emotions that feel hard to put into words
regulate their nervous system
build meaning and self-compassion
feel less alone in their experiences
Sometimes healing doesn’t start with talking—it starts with creating.
